THE man heading the 2012 Olympics will be in the region this month to tell businesses how they can benefit from the games.

Paul Deighton, chief executive of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, will meet businesses to discuss procurement opportunities.

He will speak at a seminar organised by business development organisation Business Link.

Alastair MacColl, chief executive of Business and Enterprise North-East, which delivers the Business Link service in the region, said: “The London 2012 Games represent a significant opportunity for North-East businesses.

“The Business Link procurement seminar at Hardwick Hall will provide companies with all the information they require to set about tendering.

“It will also be a unique chance to discuss relevant issues with Paul Deighton.”

The seminar will be held at Hardwick Hall Hotel, in Sedgefield, County Durham, on Monday, October 19.
