A FIRM providing specialist services to airports has started consultations on possible redundancy with several members of staff.

Durham Tees Valley Airport- based Cobham Flight Inspection is understood to have started consultations with three members of staff.

Director Ron Raisan confirmed the firm was consulting with a small number of employees. The company, based at the airport since 1993, with a second base at Braunschweig Airport in Germany, employs 85 people.

It works across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Canada and its employees include pilots, navigational aid inspectors and support staff. It is part of the larger Cobham plc, which has four divisions employing more than 12,000 people on five continents, with customers and partners in more than 100 countries.
