A NEW phase in a building society’s long-term investment in Gibraltar has begun with the opening of a flagship branch.
The British Governor to Gibraltar, Sir Robert Fulton, joined Colin Seccombe, chief executive of Newcastle Building Society (NBS), for a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.
NBS – which recently announced 150 job cuts at its head office in Newcastle – has more than 11,000 members in Gibraltar.
Mr Seccombe said: “NBS has successfully offered a full range of services to members in Gibraltar for nearly two decades, and we have invested in creating this new flagship branch to ensure we have the right facilities in place to continue to do so in the long-term.”
NBS also presented a cheque for £1,500 from the Newcastle Community Foundation to the Childline Gibraltar project, nominated by branch staff as its charity of the year.
