MORE than 40 North-East businesses have been recognised for their commitment to improving the skills of staff.
The 44 businesses have either been awarded Investors in People accreditation or retained it after a successful review.
The companies, which received their certificates at an event in Bowburn, near Durham City, range from construction and engineering to local authorities.
Robert Macleod, managing director of Investors in People North-East, said: “Businesses are facing really challenging times at the moment so it is vital they use every tool at their disposal to help them deal with change, reduce wastage and improve their skills levels.”
The latest research from The Cranfield School of Management has shown there is a link between the adoption of the IIP Standard and financial performance.
