ABOUT 2,500 jobs, including several in the North-East, have been saved at discount fashion group Ethel Austin after the group was bought out of administration by the former boss of clothing chain MK One.
Elaine McPherson, the previous chief executive and jointowner of MK One, pledged to return Ethel Austin to its former glory'' after buying the group for an undisclosed sum.
The chain had closed shops in Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, and Washington, in Wearside.
But Ms McPherson said she would breathe new life'' into the brand. Ethel Austin was formed in 1934.
