STRIKE action at airports in Norway led to the cancellation of a new North-East service.
The daily Eastern Airways service from Newcastle International Airport to Stavanger Sola Airport, which is aimed mainly at the business market, only launched last week.
But Tuesday's flights were cancelled after fire, rescue and security staff at 12 Norwegian airports, including Stavanger, went on strike in a row over pay.
The 9.50am outbound and 2pm inbound Eastern Airways flights have been axed and refunds offered to affected passengers.
Airline spokesman Darren Roberts said the company had been left with no alternative but to cancel.
He said: "These circumstances are completely beyond our control and we hope Stavanger Airport's operator, Avinor, is able to resolve the situation quickly."
Ove Narvesen, director of public affairs and communication at Avnior, said he did not know when talks between employers and representatives of those on strike would be resumed.
