THE motor retail business owned by the younger son of Sir Peter Vardy has made its first move into Scotland's specialist car market.

Peter Vardy Limited, which was set up only one year ago, has acquired Edinburgh BMW and Mini, one of the city's biggest dealerships, from the John Martin Group.

The site will be transformed into the country's biggest specialist used car superstore, with more than 150 approved used vehicles on display. Owner of the business Peter Vardy, whose father is the former chief executive of motor group Reg Vardy, said: "Our acquisition of Edinburgh BMW and Mini is a hugely important and significant step forward for Peter Vardy Limited."

Sir Peter Vardy said: "This prestigious business will be a flagship for Peter Vardy Limited and I am excited for the prospects of my son Peter's company as we build a new and dynamic motor group with a Scottish base."
