Record Numbers of Insolvencies in Three Month Period

A RECORD 30,075 people went insolvent in the first three months of the year, figures today have shown. Figures from the Government's Insolvency Services show 16,842 people went bankrupt and a further 13,233 opted for an Individual Voluntary Arrangement. The combined figure was an increase on the 29,715 people who went insolvent in the previous quarter.

Firm Looking to Treble in Size

FINANCIAL management firm, RMT FM, is on the acquisition trail as it looks to more than treble the size of its investment portfolio. The Newcastle-based business recently acquired R. Monckton-Milnes and Partners financial planning, adding around 1,000 new clients to its books. The firm currently manages investments totalling in excess of £120m and is looking to expand outside the region.

New Boost for Long Term Jobless

THE recently launched New Ways to Opportunities project has signed 130 clients in less than three months. The programme, which is being delivered in Middlesbrough by The Shaw Trust, in partnership with Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities and Mental Health Matters, focuses exclusively on helping the 9,900+ people in receipt of Incapacity Benefits back into education, training and employment.
