OIL services company PSN is continuing its expansion by establishing three new international bases, only months after creating 200 jobs on Teesside.

The Scottish-based contractor is to set up offices in the Middle East over the course of the next year, in a move that is expected to generate about £150m for the group by 2012.

The Northern Echo revealed in March that PSN is creating 200 offshore and onshore jobs with major Teesside oil and gas companies, as part of its first moves into the North of England.

A PSN spokeswoman said the company would look at further job creation in the North-East in the coming months based on the success of its new ventures.

The business, which was set up just over a year ago and already employs 8,000 people worldwide, is also looking to set up its first base in the North of England in Middlesbrough.

Bob Keiller, PSN chief executive, said both the new bases and its moves into Teesside would help with the planned growth of the business.

"This contributes to our forecast to hire at least 1,000 new people in the next eight months, of which 300 will be in the UK, and 200 on Teesside," he said.

"We are confident we have the right people in place to responsibly, but dramatically, grow our business."
