A HOME and leisure chain has started recruiting as it prepares to open a Darlington store.

The Range is looking to fill a number of senior positions for its Yarm Road outlet.

Bosses are now advertising various jobs, including store manager, office manager and warehouse supervisor roles.

The outlet will open on Friday, April 3, and is expected to create about 100 full-time and part-time posts.

The store will be in Homebase’s former site at Darlington Retail Park.

Owned and run by entrepreneur Chris Dawson, The Range operates a number of departments, including DIY, furniture, homeware and arts and crafts.

It previously opened a site in an ex-Focus DIY base in Benton, North Tyneside, creating about 150 posts, and has outlets in Stockton, Hartlepool and Sunderland.

Mr Dawson, who founded the company in 1980 as a market trader, said: “We are a fast growing company.

"Darlington will play an important role in our expansion, and I’m looking forward to allowing people to see what we’re all about.”
