A NORTH-EAST outsourcing firm says it has created 150 jobs as it moves closer to its £100m turnover target.

Parseq, which has offices in Sunderland, says it is continuing to grow, with its 1,000-strong workforce now operating from Nike’s former UK headquarters at Doxford International Business Park and Seaham Business Park.

Earlier this year, the company bought rival 2Touch, from US firm Acxiom, which was followed by a deal for charity fundraising operation Pure.

Derwyn Jones, Parseq chief executive, said: “Our Sunderland business is a key part of our national strategy for growth.

“This growth will take us a considerable step closer to helping us achieve our plans to establish turnover of £100m.

“The investment has also secured our position as one of the region’s largest employers, which is something we’re incredibly proud of.”

Parseq employs 2,700 people across the UK, has a turnover of about £65m, and works with international banks, the utility sector and insurance companies.

Councillor Paul Watson, leader of Sunderland City Council, praised the company’s contribution to the region.

He added: “Parseq’s move to accommodate its growing staff in the city is great news.

“Sunderland remains one of the world’s leading locations for contact centre companies.

“The sector generates more than £150m a year to the local economy, and the robust performance of this firm underlines the talented, adaptable workforce in Sunderland.”

Earlier this year, The Northern Echo revealed Parseq had secured a five-year deal to work with energy supplier Centrica.

Bosses said it would handle thousands of mail items for Centrica every month, which has businesses including British Gas.
