A CONSTRUCTION firm has strengthened its management team as it looks to take advantage of increasing market confidence.

Gus Robinson Developments, in Hartlepool, has appointed Steve Bell as land and development director and Dave Cutler as electrical manager.

Bosses say the pair, who have extensive construction sector experience, will play a key role in helping the company increase its presence as a large-scale building projects developer.

Mr Bell has more than 20 years’ experience as a site and construction manager for developers such as Barratt, Wimpey and Bryant Homes, and worked as a development manager for social housing company Vela.

The 40-year-old, from Blackhall, east Durham, will identify potential development sites and strengthen relationships with housing associations, local authorities and land agents.

He said: “This is a great opportunity to come in right at the beginning of the process as the business seeks to grow its influence as a major developer.”

Mr Cutler, from Stockton, will oversee Gus Robinson's expanding team of electricians, managing work on construction sites and mentoring apprentices.

The 46-year-old has more than 30 years’ experience in the electrical industry and returned to the North-East after working in Hertfordshire.

He said: “There are clear signals the construction sector is growing again and we are picking up a lot of inquiries, with many on our doorstep.”

Dan Robinson, Gus Robinson chairman, said: “These are very important appointments to the team, and both were chosen very carefully.

“I wanted to bring them in because they add enormous value with their wealth of experience, and they both embody the passion and values of the company.”
