A FROZEN seafood business, which sells 10,000 tonnes of fish every year, has created three new jobs and expanded its North-East base.

Collins Seafoods, in Newton Aycliffe, has doubled the size of its headquarters in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, and increased its sales team to meet growing demand.

The company, which supplies Frozen At Sea fish for chips shops across the North of England, has taken on Elaine Armstrong, Gina Mclean and Martin Robson in its sales team, and promoted Christine Searle into a business development role.

The expansion is another cause for celebration for the firm, which works from a 10,000sq ft factory in Heighington Lane Business Park, after it picked up a Brakes Best Supplier award for fish and seafood.

Claire Swinbank, operations director, said: “We were greatly honoured to receive an award.

“We are supplying top quality products at the right price, with good distribution links, and are looking forward to continue growing our business this year and in the longer term.”
