HARROP Anthony John August 22, 2007 If we had only known it was the last walk in the rain, We'd keep you out for hours in the storm, We would hold your hand like a life line to our hearts, Underneath the thunder we'd be warm, If we had only known It was our last walk in the rain. If we had only known We'd never hear your voice again, We'd memorise each thing you've ever said And on those lonely nights we could think of them once more, Keep your words alive inside our heads, If we had only known We'd never hear your voice again. You were the treasure in our hands, You were the one who always stood beside us, So unaware we foolishly believed that you would always be there But then there came a day when we turned our heads and you just slipped away. If we had only known It was our last night by your side, We'd pray a miracle would stop the dawn And when you'd smile at us we would look into your eyes And make sure you know our love for you goes on and on, If we had only known. 10 lonely years without you Dad, loved with a love beyond all telling and missed with a grief beyond all tears.
