MACGILLIVRAY Peter Lt. Col Peter A MacF MacGillivray O.B.E. Of Richmond, North Yorkshire and Marvig, Isle of Lewis, died peacefully on Saturday, July 15, aged 89, surrounded by his beloved wife Sylvia and children Fiona and Andrew. ''Black Mac'', served with The Royal Signals and 33rd Airborne in Egypt, Cyprus, Aden, Germany, Turkey and in the UK, was awarded OBE in 1972 and was instrumental in setting up the Yorkshire Dales River Trust. A piper, painter, rugby player, golfer, conservationist, countryman, Caledonian, raconteur, life and soul of many a party, loving husband and father, he was many things to many people. Above all Peter was an honourable man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Service at Darlington Crematorium on July 26, at 11.45a.m., followed by a reception at The Kings Head, Richmond from 1.00p.m. In lieu of flowers there will be a collection for Bethesda, a charity in Stornoway that he supported with his bagpipe playing.
