MEMBERS of a youth theatre group braved the cold weather to perform for Christmas shoppers in Darlington at the weekend.

The Identity Youth Theatre group performed a series of vignettes, all with a Christmas theme, in the town centre on Saturday afternoon.

The group, which welcomes aspiring actors aged from 4-18 years old, normally meets once a week in St Cuthbert's Church Hall.

Director Jo Ebberley said: "This group of performers consistently amazes me with their range and enthusiasm.

"It takes a lot of confidence to do street theatre and they rose to the occasion magnificently.

"Not only did they perform their street theatre scenes beautifully, with such confidence and energy, but they were so slick with their change overs and set ups too.

"If they can produce a performance like that in a couple of weeks, how fantastic is our full production, Blackout - Operation Pied Piper, going to be? I'm even more excited about it now."

The group is currently enrolling students for next year. Fees are £49 per half term (£44 for performers aged 4-7) or try a taster session for £5. For full details see identitytheatre.co.uk or call 07891-209-793
