Police are searching for a man on an electric bike who reportedly flashed himself at women on a cycle path.

Officers said they had received “several reports” of the man indecently exposing himself in the Lanchester area of County Durham earlier this week.

The incidents are believed to have happened on the Lanchester Valley railway path, between Langley Park and Consett between Monday (May 13) and Wednesday (May 15).

In an anonymous post on Facebook, one victim said: “I was out for a run […] when I was approached by a man on an electric bike who was very intimidating.

“When I walked away from him he followed me again, pulled up in front of me and flashed me.”

An investigation has been launched and police are working to find the suspect.

He is described as having short dark brown hair and riding a red and white electric bike with off-road-style tyres.

Drones were reportedly seen in the area on Wednesday evening and cops on motorbikes were patrolling the area.

The roads and armed policing team from Durham Police said they were searching for a “suspect for a serious offence”.
