TEESSIDER Zach Kibirige has become the latest player to commit his long-term future to Newcastle Falcons by signing a new two-year contract with the Kingston Park club.
The 24-year-old has established a reputation as a flamboyant try scorer since graduating from the Falcons’ academy, scoring ten tries in his nine senior appearances this season.
Four of those have come during his five Gallagher Premiership outings, and Kibirige is hoping to continue making an impact after signing a new deal.
“I’m really enjoying my rugby with the Falcons and it’s great to have the new contract finalised,” said Kibirige. “We’ve got an incredibly talented squad here, we’re working hard to improve our league position and I’m learning every day.
“Winning our last three Premiership games against some good sides shows what we are really about, and I’m excited about the future here.”
Kibirige played school rugby with Yarm School and also represented his hometown club, Middlesbrough, before securing academy terms with Falcons, and has been tipped as a potential future international after representing England at Under-20s level.
“Zach is a local lad who has earned a well-deserved reputation as one of the best finishers around,” said Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards. “The fact that he sees his future here is a great endorsement of what we are about as a club, and we place enormous value on promoting our local talent.”
