Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Premier League

Middlesbrough are the new leaders, as they won at Billingham Synthonia by 64 runs. They totalled 141 all out, thanks to top scorer Matthew Malloy, who made 29 runs, the highest score in the match, while Mark Price and Ben Brown claimed three wickets apiece.

Synners then collapsed to 77 all out, with opener Chris Atkinson making 29 runs. Skipper Matthew Bell claimed an excellent 5-23 from 14 overs, while Toby Bulcock took an impressive 4-16, to claim the points.

Saltburn remain in second place and two points behind Boro, as they won comfortably at Normanby Hall. The home side made 135 all out, mainly thanks to Jawaad Ahmed who made 45 not out. Lachlan Kennedy was the bowling star, claiming 4-53. Jason Erskine then made 56 runs and Rami Singh 39, for the visitors to seal the win on 136-3.

Champions Richmondshire are looking ominous in third, as they had a comfortable win at Stokesley by 83 runs. Gary Pratt made 81 not out from 139 balls, which included eight fours and two sixes, while Steven Reeves mad 41 in a total of 211-4.

The home side never really got going and were eventually all out for 128, with Craig Baptist top scoring with 29 runs, but it was Craig Marshall who did the damage, claiming an excellent 7-27 from 12 overs, to win the points for his side.

Marton drop to fourth following back to back defeats. They lost from a good position at home to Thornaby, as they reduced the visitors to 82-8, but William Blackwell (18) and Jack Turnbull with (12), scored crucial runs to get their team up to 115 all out. Skipper Alex Wardell was the pick of the bowling, as he claimed 4-43.

The home side never recovered from a poor start, as former players Lewis Harper with an excellent 7-28 ripped through the batting, plus Luke Gettings clearing up the tail (2-1), to win the match for their team by 22 runs, as Marton were all out for a paltry 93.

Hartlepool continue to improve, as they thumped Great Ayton by 104 runs at Park Drive. They were 3-2, but then Paul Braithwaite scored a century (121no) from 127 balls, which included ten fours and a six and then Neil Whitworth also helped himself to a century (130no) from 140 balls, which included eight fours and a six, as they put on an unbroken stand of 253 runs, in a final total of 252-2.

Ayton made a reasonable start, with skipper Jon Grainge scoring 38 and Phillip Holdsworth 57, as they put on 55 runs for the second wicket. However, man of the match Whitworth claimed 6-22 from 11 overs, ably backed by James Lowe (3-37), to bowl the visitors out for a total of 154.

Barnard Castle are up to fifth and finding some form of late, but they could just not force the win at Marske. Barney made 225-6, with James Clarkson scoring 75 and Karl Carver 41 not out off 32 balls, while Sam Berry returned figures of 4-79 with the ball.

The Seasiders lost early wickets, which curtailed the run chase, but Christopher Lince earned them the draw with 58 runs from 72 balls, which included three fours and four sixes, despite the efforts of Tom Merryweather (3-37), finishing on 159-9.

Darlington Building Society NYSD ECB – Division One

Darlington are now third in the league, with a win at bottom club Great Ayton by a massive 165 run margin. They made 230-3, as Nathan Wright scored 51, Callum Lethbridge 70 and Adam Baldwin 44 not out.

In reply, the home side crashed to 65 all out, with Oliver King the bowling hero, as he took 5-33, while Jonathan Barnes claimed 3-25 off his 15 overs.

Dukes ECB North East Premier League

Banks Salver – East Group

The weather curtailed a lot of the games over the weekend, but a few survived as Hetton Lyons won again, with a comfortable 98 run win at home to Castle Eden. Although they had a terrible start on 10-3, they recovered to 177-9 in their innings, thanks to skipper Stuart Walker as he made a gallant 67 from 82 balls, which included seven fours and two sixes.

In reply, the visitors only made 79 in total, as Christopher Ralston with 3-15 and Cameron Grimwood returned figures of 4-7, to claim victory for their side.

The bottom two met up, as Philadelphia hosted Boldon at Bunker Hill. The home side won the toss and made 162-8, as they struggled from the off. However, Ryan Dowens made a breezy 70 from 80 balls, which included five fours and two sixes, while on the bowling front, Joseph Maddison, and Karl Bellerby each took two wickets.

Boldon were then solid from the start, as Oliver Sampson-Barnes (39) and Joseph Coyne (41), steered their team to victory, despite Shaun Hauxwell taking a late flurry of wickets (3-10), to finish on 163-7.

Banks Salver – West Group

Chester-le-Street lead the group on run rate, as they beat Willington at Ropery Lane. Batting first, the Cestrians made 153 runs thanks to George Harrison, who scored 47 from 56 balls, which included 10 fours. Cameron O'Donnell kept the score down by taking 3-25 from his eight overs.

The visitors then collapsed to 77 all out, with Jamie Dass top scoring with 24 runs to his name. On the bowling front, Liam Simpson delivered with 3-9 off eight overs and John Harrison with 4-12, cleaned up the rest for a 76 run win.

Sacriston are still without a win in the group yet, as they went down again, this time at home to Washington, by five wickets. They decided to bat first and made a reasonable 165-8, as Martin Hubber scored 44 and Nathan Hall 37, as they put on 51 runs for the fifth wicket, while Liam Hickey, Mark Watson, and Ash Thorpe each took two wickets.

In reply, the visitors had opener Josh Wilson to thank, as he made 35, then Adam Hickey with 41 and Joe Thompson 45 not out, sealed the five wicket win on 166-5, with an over to spare.

Durham and North East Cricket League

Frank Lees Cup – Group A

Marsden welcomed Boldon CA and the visitors batted first, but only made 113 all out, with Karl Birkett top scoring with 22 runs. Chris Mann was the pick of the bowling, claiming 3-25, while there were two wickets each for Matthew Hughes, Ryan Little and Colin Mann.

The home side then took just 21 overs to seal the win, as Chris Mann made 47 runs, while Mathew Evans and Owen Peterson both made 22 each, finishing on 113-2.

Frank Lees Cup – Group B

Mainsforth beat group leaders Littletown, as the home side racked up 207-4, with Ryan Nicholson scoring (42), Chris Coatsworth (30), and a breezy 48 not out from Aidan Cummings, from just 51 balls set the visitors a tough target.

However, the visitors never really got going and apart from 41 runs from Thomas Nicholson, they ended up 120 all out, as John Cavanagh claimed an excellent 5-33, to claim the win for his side by 87 runs.

There was a run fest at the game between Brandon and Durham City, at the Brandon Sports Club. City batted well and made a mammoth 255-9, as Dom Scott (83), Callum Steel (30) and Jonny Harding (45), piled on the runs.

The home side lost both openers cheaply, but a magnificent 131 not out from Gordon Muchall sealed the win. His runs came from 118 balls, which included 15 fours and three sixes. Jordan Grosert made 48, as they both put on 107 runs for the third wicket, to claim the win on 258-5.

Esh Winning are fourth, following a low scoring match at Tudhoe. They made just 91 all out after deciding to bat, with opener David Lawlor top scoring with 34 runs, while Gavin Paton (3-15) and William Jewitt (4-14), did the damage with the ball.

The visiting bowlers were also on form as Jonathan Hodgson (3-16), Paul Chivers (2-24), Ishan Ul Haq (2-13) and Connor Surtees (2-15), bowled them to a narrow eight run win, as the home side crumbled to 83 all out.

Hunwick won a high scoring game at Murton. The home side made a healthy 196 all out, as Josh Greenfield top scored with 43, while Fergus Hopper and Ashley Proud each claimed three wickets.

In reply, skipper Chris Pratt made 69 not out and Chris Smith an excellent 80, as they romped home on 197-2, to win the match by eight wickets.

Easington entertained Peterlee at the Welfare Grounds and bowled the visitors out for 150 runs. Faz Hussain with 4-27 and Jason Moses 3-38 took the bowling plaudits, while Ellis Dunn top scored with 33 runs.

The home side also had Hussain to thank for his batting, as he scored 38 runs, to guide his side to victory on 152-7, despite Daniel Devine claiming 3-44 early on in their innings.

Evenwood are still bottom, as they lost at home to Ushaw Moor, by seven wickets. Thomas Teesdale Jnr made the highest score of 31, while Josh Clifford was the pick of the bowling, taking 3-32.

Ushaw then had skipper Lewis Cook to thank, as he made 35 not out, to claim victory for his side finishing on 110-3.
