Wetherby & District Motor Club, Trial, Greenhow, Saturday.

THE Wetherby club stage their second motor cycle trial on Saturday but under strict Auto Cycle Union rules. A maximum of 60 competitors of all ages and by pre-event entries only. The individual spacing was not critical as the competitors left the start a minute apart.

The hillside venue at Toftgate Farm overlooking Nidderdale, just east of Greenhow, tested all three classes. The course was a full ten section layout on the grassy and steep hillside.

Glasshouses electrician Danny Gamble won the hard route class from Bellerby novice class contender Ryan Brown and 20-year-old Ramsgill trainee mechanical engineer Jack Harker. Jack is a third year student at Sheffield and Hallam University and is a towering 6ft 5ins tall.

Barnoldswick engineer Anthony Ayrton won the Inter class riding his new TRS machine. His 16-year-old daughter Lucy competed on her new TRS machine and was second the Jack Bennett in class while her grandfather Brian observed the final section.

Rob Bratley and Stewart Molloy headed the fifty –fifty and easy course classes. Braidley brothers Sam and Scott Lambert scored an eighth and tenth in their classes. Sam is a trainee architect while Scott works in the agricultural supplies industry.

The Wetherby club have planned an August 10 date at Bayliss Gap Farm, Bewerley commencing at 10.30am. The event will the Blades Trophy and the third Norman Crooks Trophy Trial. The Club will also stage the fourth Norman Crooks trial on August 15 at Clockensyke Farm, Dacre, on August 15 commencing at 5.30pm.
