BEDALE and Aiskew Runners, Louise Baker and Paul Ellis are pictured rather belatedly receiving the Brian Hall Trophy, awarded for their contributions to the club throughout 2019. It is a well-deserved award for great support and endeavour which has continued into 2020 and the challenges of Covid-19.
The award was made on a hugely exciting day for the club as it hosted its first “socially distanced” parkrun on July 4, bringing together more than 30 members, who returned to the club after the long lock down break to enjoy a 5K run through Bedale.
The run saw a range of achievements, with Matt Randall completing the run in just over 20 minutes, but other great achievements were those simply restarting their running and managing to complete the course.
The club is slowly bringing back runners to club nights. Running regularly on a Wednesday evening is the new norm, with small socially distanced groups. More than 40 members are now joining on a regular basis.
