WITH motorsport halted in the same way as all other outdoor activities, writer Barry Robinson has been looking back through his archives.
These pictures were taken on October 22, 1982 at the Scott Trial’s Washfold section in Hurst village. The section was right opposite the Green Dragon pub, which eventually years later caught fire.
It is estimated that almost 300 spectators had gathered. Rumours exist that some competitors had arranged a pint of ale that was placed on the wall adjacent to the section.
Martin Lampkin won the trial from Malcolm Rathmell and RAC patrol engineer John Reynolds. Lampkin's penalties were 98 while Rathmell set the fastest time in 4hrs 36 mins 55 seconds.
Official finishers were listed as 54.
