ANOTHER very busy week for AJAC athletes making the most of the spring conditions.

On Tuesday 26th March, 8 athletes were competing in the North Yorkshire School Games Cross Country (XC) Finals. In this large primary schools event, Chloe Proud was the youngest member from AJAC, finishing a fantastic 17th in the Year 3 girls. In the Year 4 boys, Daniel Dale finished in 39th place, and in the Year 5 boys race Henry Kirkbride finished in 15th place. Lucy Boot was on the podium in 2nd place for the Year 5 Girls and in Year 6, Ava Bourne finished 18th and Megan Edwards came 24th in the Girls race while Alex Pavan came home 19th in the Boys race – great results all round on a challenging course. Next up was the Yorkshire Road Relays taking place at the Brownlee Centre in Leeds. AJAC sent a team of 6 for the Under 13 Boys 3200m race, with the team coming home in 5th place overall. Marley Plant finished in 23rd place in a time of 13:00, Oscar Wileman came in 25th in 13:07, next was Harry Bell in 26th with a time of 13:10, Caleb Stanley was 27th in 13:12, Angus Corcoran in 33rd with 13:32 and Alex Winsper came home in 39th place with a time of 13:51. Finally, a special mention goes to Cian Winter, who was competing in the ISA National Cross Country Championships 2019 for year 7 & 8 boys, where he finished the 2750m course in 20th place overall with a time of 09:53.
