IT was a warm sunny day for the recent Heartbeat Hobble Fell Race, Race 7 in the Dave Parry Winter Series, and relatively not too difficult.

Lorraine Hiles continued her excellent form to finish 56th, and 2nd lady, in 60.25, with Marc Davies 62nd in 61.17, Helen Ashworth 78th in 66.47 and Kirsty Naylor 83rd in 68.37. The ladies' team finished in 3rd place.

The following weekend, Lorraine demonstrated her superb form at the Dalby Forest Park Run, coming 12th out of 202 in 21.36, 1st lady. It was her first time on that course but it obviously suited her as her effort was almost 82%.

It was the 5th Anniversary of Park Run at Fountains Abbey and runners were treated to a lovely cake at the end of the run, provided by the National Trust! Mike Cropper came 21st out of 405 in 20.59, Adrian Elsworth 124th in 25.59, David Palmer 186th in 28.26, just ahead of Nigel Morgan 188th in 28.36, Paul Adams 233rd in 30.05, Ian Codling 359th in 38.10, Jemma Cropper 365th in 39.28 and Marian Codling 375th in 40.48.

Rob Burn again ran well, at the Northallerton event, finishing 12th out of 86 in 23.22 with Phillip Craig 74th in 30.38.

At Harrogate, Gary Wilkinson had a superb run to come 46th out of 625 in PB 21.11.

Ian and Gillian Crane were among the 436 runners at the Big Bay event, Ian coming 68th in 28.55 and Gillian 155th in 36.35.

A week to go now to the Thirsk 10 on March 17th, 10 am. Have you got your entry in? It's no too late, and with a wheelchair race at 9.50 and Fun Run at 9am, it promises to be a busy day for the club!

And finally, if you watched the European Indoor Championships from Birmingham at the weekend, you would see Tom Somers in the 4 x 400m relay team. Tom began his running career as a junior with Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers and we have been proud to watch his progress over the years. We wish him well for the future.
