Ladies 1sts

TRAVELLING to Hull for a 10.30 push back, with 13 players, Thirsk knew it would be hard work but the girls were up for it.

Thirsk were on top from the 1st whistle, missing a few golden chances, and got to half time with a nil nil scoreline.

Thirsk started the 2nd half as they finished the 1st, on top and creating chances.

Having been awarded a penalty corner, a new routine followed which was scrambled in by Gina. 1-0.

Shortly after Thirsk got a 2nd goal from a perfectly executed penalty corner routine was deflected in at the far post by Libby Rickard.

The 3rd goal was a great reverse strike from the edge of the D by Minnie Pollock.

So, Thirsk took all 3 points to consolidate their position.

The girls kept going, working hard for each other and kept their discipline.

Thirsk Men’s 3rds

PLAYING away against Leeds Adel’s 5th team, Thirsk started fast, opening the scoring from an early short corner when injector Jeremy Barker smashed in a waist high volley from the initial save.

Adel started to apply a little pressure playing the ball into space to run on to, but rarely threatened the D and Thirsk doubled the score before half time.

Continuing to rotate players in the warm conditions, Thirsk dominated the second half, keeping possession well, playing the ball back into Ben Scaling at right back to open up more attacking options instead of taking the ball into contact.

Ben Harrison and Will Norman each scored a brace with Connor Wilkinson adding the sixth, meaning that Thirsk leapfrogged the opposition into 5th place with a sixth consecutive win.

Good concentration and effort all round.

Final score 6-0

Man of the match: Jeremy Barker in central midfield for great work rate, positional play and distribution.
