A LEYBURN branch of a building firm has renewed its sponsorship of its local football team.
Building and DIY suppliers the Myers Group have renewed its sponsorship of Spennithorne and Harmby Football Club. The Yorkshire-based firm, which has a branch in Leyburn supports many community activities throughout its operational region.
Branch manager Dean Atkinson said: “As a local firm many of the players, coaching staff and supporters of Spennithorne and Harmby FC are our customers ; sponsorship is a way of showing we care about the community we serve.
“We are happy to continue our involvement with the Spennithorne and Harmby Football Club.“
The club have been a member of the Wensleydale League since its formation 99 years ago and the league itself is sponsored by the Wensleydale Creamery and currently has 11 teams.
Club spokesman George Tunstall said: “We are very grateful to Dean and the Myers Group for generously sponsoring us.
“Any help we receive helps us take away some of the financial pressure we face as we have to replace kit and other equipment. Now we can concentrate on playing."
The deal must have brought the team good luck with a 3-1 victory over Richmond Buck Inn in the Medal Shield Cup last week.
