THE club continue to go from strength to strength, both in achievement and numbers of people taking to the field. The Club is represented by three Junior teams, Under 9s, Under 11s and Under 13s as well as running All Stars Cricket sessions for 5 to 8 year olds. There is a growing squad of ladies as well as two very successful men’s teams.

The Under 9s and Under 13s both finished 2nd in their regional divisions, and the Under 11s finished 4th. All three age groups had more players involved than last year, as did the All Stars Cricket sessions for 5-8 year olds. This is very encouraging for ensuring the future of the club.

The ladies team built on their inaugural season with some excellent wins, and continued to grow in numbers, with the squad reaching 22 members by season’s end. The club would welcome more girls and ladies to come along and give it a go; a variety of softball and hardball matches are played, so there’s something to suit all ages and experiences.

The men’s 1st XI retained the Langbaurgh League Division 1 title, losing just 2 league games late in the year, both by just 8 runs. As in 2017 they reached the Gjers Cup final, but were defeated by Kildale by 10 runs. However, they bounced back with a thrilling 3-run victory against New Marske in the Ideson Trophy final, and a 9-wicket win in the Lady Dorman Cup final against Moorsholm.

The 2nd XI achieved a finish of 7th in Langbaurgh League Division 2, a great improvement on last year. It was very encouraging to see the younger contingent step up from the junior leagues and make match-winning contributions on more than one occasion.

The Evening League XI also retained their league title. In the Hodgson Cup final, they were defeated by Silton, but victory in the Walsh Cup final against Northallerton Rugby Club was some consolation.

2018 is believed to be the club’s best ever season. However, the club is always looking for ways to grow and improve, and will always welcome new members.
