Allerton Junior Athletics Club

THE club have had a remarkable week of running with 22 young runners tackling the Junior Great North Run and the inaugural mini & Junior Great Tees Run.

Starting in Stockton at the mini Tees run, Freya Wilford tackled the 2k event putting in a splendid performance to earn herself a well-deserved 2nd place, receiving her trophy from local Team GB superstar Richard Kilty.

Stepping up the distance to the Junior 4k event 6 athletes wore the AJAC pink and blue with pride. In the boys 11/12 age category Marley Plant secured a top 10 finish with a time of 16 min 32 seconds. In the boys 9/10 category Doug Plant narrowly missed out on a podium finish, finishing 4th in a time of 17 mins 19 secs. He was followed by Joshua Kitching 7th place in a time of 18 min 13 secs, Archie Cann 12th in a time of 19 mins 00 secs, Alex Winsper 16th in a time of 19 mins 25 secs and rounding of the AJAC athletes was Edward Barnbrook in 19th place with a time of 19 mins 59 secs.

15 athletes headed up to Tyneside for the Junior Great North Run. In the Boys 9/10 race Henry Kirkbride survived a start line pile up to finish in 12th place with a time of 16min 59secs, Ole Smith came home in 117th with a time of 20mins 04secs and Daniel Pittam was 233rd in a time of 21mins 54secs.

In the Boys 11/12 race Campbell Darcy finished 13th in a time of 16 mins 01 sec, he was followed by Cian Winter guaranteed a top 20 finish (18th) with a time of 16 mins 10 secs, Caleb Stanley in 26th place with a time of 16 mins 32 secs, Oscar Wileman 39th in a time of 17 mins 11 secs, Matthew Pittam 64th in 17 mins 49 secs and Aidan Leahy 223rd in a time of 20 mins 44 secs.

In the 13/14 Boys Race Paddy Harrison finished in 141st place in a time of 19 min 55 secs.

In the girls 11/12 Race Amelia Winter finished in 64th place with a time of 19mins 22secs follwed by Meghan Edwards in 104th place in a time of 20mins 59secs.

In the girls 9/10 race 9-year olds Lucy Boot and Annabelle Coxon took on the front runners with Lucy Boot bagging a fantastic 3rd place finish in a time of 17 mins 35 secs with Annabelle Coxon crossing the line in 5th place with a time of 17 mins 47 secs. Meghan Burnham rounded of an amazing day for all AJAC athletes ensuring a top 50 finish (46th) with a time of 20 mins 33 secs.

To round the weekend off and after a long layoff Dylan Welburn took to Northallerton Junior Parkrun and finished as 2nd male with a time of 09 mins 40 secs.
