Spennymoor Town are aiming to bounce back from their defeat at Telford on Thursday night when they continue their hectic schedule at Alfreton on Saturday.

Moors returned home from the long trip to Telford in the early hours of the morning, and must now prepare for another trip to Derbyshire this morning, with manager Jason Ainsley about to make changes in the side after losing 3-2 at the New Buck’s Head despite leading 2-1 at one stage.

“We scored two unbelievable goals though Nathan Lowe and Andy Johnson, and it was a privilege to watch them go in. If Rob Ramshaw’s effort had gone in at 2-1 instead of hitting the post, then we would have gone on to win.

“But yet again we gave away some sloppy goals. If you score twice away from home, then you should get something out of the game, but if you concede sloppy goals at the other end, how can you?

“It’s very disappointing that we’re conceding avoidable goals, so today’s game will give me an opportunity to utilise the squad and give the lads who have been sat in the stand a game. Defensively we’re all over the place at the moment, and we need to improve.”

Despite the defeat on Thursday, Moors are still seventh in the table, two points ahead of Blyth and Chorley, with two games in hand.

Alfreton, meanwhile, are battling against relegation, and are sixth bottom of the table.

They are currently two points above the drop zone, and played on Thursday night themselves, when they came back from 2-0 down at Curzon Ashton to draw 2-2.

Their home form is worse than their away form, having lost ten times at home this season.

After today, Moors have still got eight games to play, with the next five all at home in the space of eleven days beginning with Boston on Tuesday.
