Northallerton manager Darren Trotter reckoned that a drinks break upset his team’s momentum in their 3-0 home defeat by Stockton Town in the FA Cup preliminary round on Saturday.

Northallerton were optimistic of picking up some more prize money, until they lost their rhythm in the heat.

Trotter said; “I felt we did not make Stockton work hard enough for the win.

“The game turned against us when we stopped for a drinks break, we switched off and they immediately scored.

“From then on Stockton controlled the game and we have no complaints as they never got out of second gear. “ Nathan Mulligan (2) and a Karl Hewitt own goal put Stockton into the next round.

Stockton will be joined by Newcastle Benfield who had a good 1-0 home win over BetVictor League club Workington. Sunderland RCA beat Hemsworth 1-0, while Marske won 3-1 at Ashington. Hebburn drew 1-1 at Pontefract, Dunston drew 2-2 with Goole, and Morpeth drew 2-2 at Brighouse.

Billingham Town were beaten 4-3 at home by Ossett United, while Seaham won their all Northern League game by 3-1 against Guisborough.
