Northallerton manager Darren Trotter says that his team has nothing to lose in their FA Cup preliminary round tie at home to Stockton Town on Saturday.
Northallerton pulled off a great result when they won at Newton Aycliffe in the last round, but they have an even tougher task against Stockton, who have won all three of their league games this season, and beat Nostell in the last round.
“It’s a game that the players are looking forward to, and one in which we have nothing to lose,” he said.
“Stockton are huge favourites and will be looking to progress a lot further than this round in the competition. However, we always performed well against them in the past, so there may be a chance, albeit slim.”
Trotter’s squad is boosted by the return of several players after holidays.
Of the other ties, Billingham Town are at home to Ossett United, Hebburn go to Pontefract, Guisborough go to Seaham Red star, and Sunderland RCA host Hemsworth.
Marske United have a tricky away tie at Ashington, and Dunston are at home to BetVictor colleagues Goole.
