Guisborough won the North Riding Senior Cup with the only goal of the game against Middlesbrough at the Riverside last night.

Guisborough took the lead on 32 minutes when striker Danny Johnson went for the ball with Boro keeper Joseph Fryer, and the ball ran loose for Johnson to tap in.

It was all Boro after that, but Guisborough held on to win the cup for the second time in four seasons.

In the ENL, West Auckland won 5-0 at Consett in their third game of the week.

West took the lead after 19 minutes when Shaun Vipond set up Kris Wilkinson to score from 20 yards, then six minutes later Mattie Moffat provided the pass for Stuart Banks to lob the keeper. Moffat then fired into the top corner to make it 3-0 before half time.

Wilkinson scored the fourth from 20 yards just after half time, and John Campbell got number five after he charged down a clearance. Consett got two goals back through Gilberto Chapim and Luke Sullivan.

Newcastle Benfield are looking for a new manager following the resignation of Steve Bowey, who had been in charge for 18 months. The highlight of his reign was their defeat of holders Spennymoor in the last 16 of the Vase.
