In their last game before Wembley, Spennymoor Town manager Jason Ainsley left out most of his key players as they beat Hebburn 3-0 to give them 100 points for the season.

Recent signing Thomas Bott put them in front after 15 minutes, with Chris Lawther adding the second before half time. Bott scored another in the second half.

The game now means that star striker Gavin Cogdon is now free from suspension, and will play on Saturday against Tunbridge Wells, who have now sold over 10,000 tickets.

West Auckland drew 0-0 with Shildon at Darlington Road, which means that Whitley Bay finish third.

Newcastle Benfield are still flirting with relegation after they lost 3-1 at Penrith at one stage, despite being level 1-1 at one stage . They are still five points above the relegation zone, and third bottom Sunderland RCA still have two games to play.

In the second division, a draw wasn’t much good for Jarrow Roofing, because they opened the door for Morpeth to clinch third place and definite promotion. Roofing could only draw 3-3 with Seaham Red Star, while Morpeth won 4-1 at Brandon. Roofing must now wait for final confirmation that Ryhope CW will be denied promotion.

Northallerton easily beat Thornaby 7-1 at Ainderby Road, four of their goals coming in the first 20 minutes. Carl Chillingsworth scored a hat trick.

Ashington won the Northumberland Senior Cup, beating Whitley Bay 3-0 at St James’ Park.

Ashington had most of the early pressure and took the lead after 10 minutes through Andy Johnson, then Mark O’Dea got the second on 34 minutes. Marc Walton made sure midway through the second half.
