ENGLAND have won the Cricket World Cup after triumphing in a dramatic final at Lord's.

Eoin Morgan's side restricted New Zealand to 241-8 in their innings, with Teessider Liam Punkett taking three wickets.

England struggled for the majority of their run chase, but led by Ben Stokes' unbeaten 84, they finished tied on 241 all out.

That took the game into a Super Over, and with Stokes and Jos Buttler batting, England scored 15 off their six balls.

That left New Zealand needing to score 16 off Jofra Archer, but a run out off the final ball meant they were only able to manage 15 runs of their own.

That meant England were crowned World champions for the first time, sparking euphoric scenes of celebration at Lord's.
