SUSSEX have claimed six wickets in the morning session to reduce Durham to 112-7 in their second innings, boasting a lead of only 134 in their Specsavers County Championship Divison Two clash at Emirates Riverside.
Alex Lees was dismissed from his first ball of the morning, edging a delivery from David Wiese behind to Ben Brown. Gareth Harte almost joined his team-mate back in the pavilion, but was dropped at mid-wicket by Laurie Evans.
Bancroft and Harte built a partnership of 30, although it was abruptly ended when the Durham skipper played a loose drive to a wide delivery from Mir Hamza and was caught behind. Jack Burnham also fell to the Pakistani for the five, leaving the hosts in vulnerable position at 70-4, only 92 runs ahead.
Harte and Ned Eckersley stemmed the tide with a partnership of 35. However, after scoring back-to-back boundaries Eckersley drilled a Tom Haines delivery straight to Evans to spark a collapse. Wiese returned to remove Liam Trevaskis and Ben Raine within three balls to put the visitors in control on day three.
