James Franklin, the former New Zealand all-rounder, is reported to be set to be named head coach at Durham.
Jon Lewis left in December and has since been appointed to the Sri Lanka coaching staff, after the club announced a restructure of their coaching set-up.
Franklin was captain of Middlesex when they won the to the 2016 County Championship title in 2016.
It is claimed that he will sign a three-year deal as lead coach and head of high performance and spend around nine months a year at Emirates Riverside, with an additional coach for the club’s T20 programme to be appointed.
Franklin is working as a coaching consultant at Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash.
He has experience in England of playing for Essex, Glamorgan and Gloucestershire and played 31 Test matches and over 100 ODIs for the Black Caps.
