IT should pay to keep Symphony Star on-side ahead of her return to Southwell, writes TATTENHAM.

The Paul d’Arcy-trained three-yearold has finished second on her last two visits to the Nottinghamshire circuit, which bodes particularly well for the second division of the 32Red Supporting British Racing Handicap.

D’Arcy’s filly did not look that happy on her final start towards the end of July, but stayed on with some earnest to get to within one and a half lengths of surprise winner Applaude.

Although that form does not look that great, she appears to have a little less on her plate here and has been given plenty of time to freshen up after a busy summer.

Title-chasing apprentice Darren Egan’s 5lb claim will also come in very handy.

Lichfield trainer Ed McMahon can maintain his consistent run of form by saddling Secretinthepark to victory at Warwick.

McMahon’s horses are in fine fettle – a point illustrated by Winning Express’ promising second in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket – and this youngster can keep the ball rolling.
