DEMBA Ba and Papiss Cisse will both be available for Newcastle United's next Premier League fixture after Senegal suffered a shock exit from the Africa Cup of Nations last night.

Having lost their opening match to Zambia, Senegal had to claim at least a point from their game with co-hosts Equatorial Guinea to have any chance of making it out of Group A.

With Ba and Cisse starting together up front, they fell behind to a 62nd-minute header from Iban Randy, but looked to have secured a lifeline when substitute Moussa Sow equalised with one minute left.

However, in a dramatic finale, David Alvarez scored with a long-range strike in the fourth minute of stoppage time to book Equatorial Guinea's place in the quarter-finals and dump Senegal out of the competition.

Senegal still have to play their final group game against Libya on Sunday evening, but Ba and Cisse are now expected to return to England on Monday morning.

They will miss this weekend's FA Cup fourth-round tie at Brighton, but should be available for Wednesday's Premier League trip to Blackburn.

Whether Alan Pardew chooses to play them at Ewood Park after such a hectic start to the week remains to be seen, but Ba will only have missed four Magpies matches and should be able to slot back into things reasonably quickly.

Cisse is yet to make his Newcastle debut having completed a £9m move from German side Freiburg last week.
