THE Northern Echo has teamed up with North East motorsport venue, Croft Circuit, to give away three pairs of tickets for the Roger Albert Clark Rally Saturday, December 3.

The RAC is one of the world’s leading events for historic rally cars, named in honour of British Seventies rallying great Roger Clark and held very much in the spirit of the old Lombard RAC Rallies of the Sixties through to the early 1980s.

The entry list features competition-tuned versions of the era’s most iconic models of car as driven in their heyday by British heroes Clark, Tony Pond and Russell Brookes, plus Scandinavian stars Hannu Mikkola, Timo Makinen, Stig Blomqvist and Markku Alen.

Ford Escort MKIs and MKIIs, Porsche 911s, Vauxhall Chevettes, Lancia Stratos and Fulvias, Saab 96s to name just a few are very much the order of the day with some still in original period livery. This year’s RAC runs from December 2 to 3.

On the afternoon of December 3, as part of its four-day route, the event will stop off at Croft Circuit near Darlington for two of its competitive timed special stages. The Croft paddock will also host a major Service Park where visitors will be able to chat with the competing drivers and get a close-up look at the rally cars while they are being worked on by mechanics.
