MICK Wadsworth is happy to carry on as caretaker boss at Hartlepool United for the immediate future.

The club’s first-team coach has stepped up following the exit of Chris Turner last week.

He has overseen a win at Yeovil and a Carling Cup loss to Wigan this week and will be in the dug out for tomorrow’s game with Sheffield Wednesday at Victoria Park.

With two games to follow next week, Wadsworth has been in talks with Ken Hodcroft and the chairman has again indicated there is no rush to make an instant managerial appointment.

Pools are currently without a director of sport, chief executive and manager.

And, while Wadsworth hinted that there won’t be any business in the transfer window before it closes next week, he is content with what he has at his disposal.

“I’ve enjoyed it this week, because when it’s tough that’s the biggest test for a coach,’’ said Wadsworth.

“There’s lots of outside influences to consider.

“I never look too long term, other than building a team or reviewing a youth system, but the club is in this situation with what we have got.

We’ve a group of players that won’t change and I’ve no problem with that as they are a good bunch.

“Nothing drastically will happen in the next few weeks and he (Hodcroft) has faith in those here, it may mean a bit of bending and chopping around of job titles.

“I’ve got Micky Barron and Ritchie Humphreys to help out and the senior players, Sam Collins, Paul Murray, will be leaned upon. We will all muck in to make it work, we will and I find that interesting and exciting.’’ Wadsworth added: “I’ll honour the situation, it’s part of the game and I’ve been in tougher situations.

“It’s not tough as others as we are in a decent shape with a sizeable squad, the working environment is good and I’ve loved my time here, I cannot state that enough.

“I’m delighted to be here, enjoy it and I’m sure I will carry on doing so.

“The chairman is taking stock and I’m not speaking for him, but he seems happy with how things are going."
