WITH a three-week break from midweek games, Denis Behan is looking forward to learning from some one to one tuition on the Hartlepool United training ground.

The Irishman, a summer recruit from Cork City, has impressed in his early appearances for his new club.

With two goals to his name and a liking for cracking freekicks from all distances, a plan which brought a spectacular reward with a 30-yard goal in last weeks win at Oldham, Behan has made a swift impact.

Pools don’t play a midweek game until they go to Stockport on September 29 and, before then, Behan is hoping for some one-to-one tuition.

Coach Colin West made almost 500 career appearances as a striker and, Behan can see the benefits of working under the former Sunderland forward.

“Colin was a good striker in his day, I’m sure I can learn from him,” said the 25-yearold.

“It’s been a busy start to the season with a lot of midweek games, so training has been a bit disrupted.

“Now we have the chance to I’m sure we will get down to some real good work on the training ground. Westy was a great player in his day, he’s a great coach as well so he can help bring my game on as well.

“We will be doing more specific training with the strikers and individual work rather than preparing from game after game and that can only help develop my game as well.”

West’s reserve side takes on Grimsby Town at Billingham Town tonight, with Icelandic striker Armann Bjornsson starting.

Ben Clark, however, is facing a week on the sidelines after suffering a groin strain.

Last week he returned to action after a summer hernia operation.

Pools’ Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie with Grimsby will be played at Victoria Park on Tuesday, October 6 (7pm).

Tickets are £10 and £5 concessions.

Under-16s are admitted free with an accompanied full-paying adult, although the offer is only open to anyone buying tickets before Monday, October 5.
