MIDDLESBROUGH have made an early breakthrough in the summer transfer window, with Manchester City youngster Terrell Agyemang set to join the club.

The 20-year-old, who can play in midfield and defence, will officially join Boro when his contract with the Premier League champions expires at the end of this month. He'll sign a two-year deal on Teesside.

Agyemang came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic before being released at the end of the 2021/22 season. QPR were one of the clubs linked with the youngster a year ago but he joined Manchester City on trial and impressed in pre-season before a short-term deal was agreed at the end of September.

He played 13 times for Manchester City's Under-21s last season, helping them to a third successive Premier League 2 title.

Agyemang, who was born to Ghanaian parents in London, will link up with his new Boro teammates in pre-season when his Manchester City contract officially expires.

Meanwhile, Boro midfielder Riley McGree is in the Australia squad for their friendly against Argentina. The Socceroos face the world champions in China next Thursday.
