How did the players fare in Newcastle's 4-1 win at Fulham?

FULHAM (4-5-1):

LENO 7; Mbabu 3 (Cairney 45, 4), Adarabioyo 5, Ream 4, Kurzawa 3 (Diop 45, 5); James 3 (Kebano 70, 5), Reed 4, Pereira 4, Chalobah 3, Decordova-Reid 5; Mitrovic 4 (Vinicius 36, 4).

Subs (not used): Rodak (gk), Parkes, Duffy, Harris, Onomah.

NEWCASTLE (4-3-3):

6 Pope: Barely had anything to do all afternoon, but didn’t have a chance with Decordova-Reid’s header

7 Trippier: Had an easy afternoon defensively and delivered his usual flurry of effective balls from the right

6 Schar: Was never seriously threatened by the Fulham attack and generally used the ball well when he had it

7 Botman: Calm and composed as he returned to the starting line-up at the heart of the back four

7 Burn: Was moved across to left-back in place of Targett, with his versatility already proving to be a major asset

8 Willock: Caused problems all afternoon with his well-timed breaks into the box and claimed the assist for two of Newcastle’s goals

8 Longstaff: Used the ball effectively all afternoon and was in the right place at the right time to slot home his goal

8 Guimaraes: Ran the game for an hour before he was taken off, with his through balls repeatedly piercing the Fulham defence

9 ALMIRON: Capped an excellent display with two well-deserved goals, and would have had a hat-trick if he hadn’t strayed just offside

7 Wilson: Set the ball rolling as he stabbed home Newcastle’s opener – his return from injury is a massive boost

8 Murphy: Saw a lot of the ball down the left-hand side, with the Fulham defence not really able to handle him

Subs:

7 Anderson (59, for Guimaraes): Made a positive impression as he kept Newcastle on the front foot in the closing stages

6 Fraser (65, for Wilson): Had the ball in the net in the dying seconds, but had broken too soon and was offside

Targett (82, for Burn)

Lascelles (82, for Schar)

Lewis (82, for Trippier)

(not used): Karius (gk), Dummett, Joelinton, Wood.

Man Of The Match: MIGUEL ALMIRON – The Paraguayan doesn’t always deliver an end product, but this was an afternoon when he certainly came good.
