How did the players fare in Newcastle United’s pre-season friendly victory over Athletic Bilbao?

NEWCASTLE (4-3-3):

8 Dubravka: Made three crucial late saves to keep Newcastle in front when Bilbao were threatening to engulf the Magpies defence

6 Krafth: Produced a couple of important challenges in his own 18-yard box, but was outjumped for Bilbao’s goal

6 Lascelles: Mopped up effectively on a number of occasions, but found himself under the cosh as Bilbao attacked late on

7 Botman: His quality on the ball has been obvious ever since he signed – continued to look composed, even when Bilbao were pressing late on

6 Dummett: Produced his usual composed and committed display – remains an important member of Eddie Howe’s squad

8 GUIMARAES: Ran the Bilbao defence ragged in the first half in particular, passing and probing from the heart of the Newcastle midfield

7 Willock: Made a number of dangerous breaks into the Bilbao defence and linked up effectively with his fellow midfielders

7 Joelinton: Saw plenty of the ball in the opening period and generally used it well – sent Saint-Maximin away for his goal

6 Ritchie: Started the game on the right-hand side, but ended up back on the left – was occasionally wasteful in possession

7 Wilson: Took his early opener superbly, proving his goalscoring instincts remain as well-honed as ever

7 Saint-Maximin: Carried a threat down the left-hand side and produced a clinical finish for Newcastle’s second goal
