HARTLEPOOL United kick off their League Two season away to Walsall under the stewardship of Paul Hartley who is expected to spearhead a push up the table this season.

The former Hearts midfielder manages his first game in English football as Pools make the trip to the Bescot Stadium.

Hartley mapped out what his players need to do speaking to BBC Radio Tees Sport: "They are good players. They are aggressive and the player in a certain way.

"They are good in forward areas so we need to be aware of that, we've got to work hard off the ball.

"It's the first game of the season and they are at home so the crowd will be behind them but I'm sure we will take a noisy travelling supporter to get behind our team which is important.

"We've got to start the game well and be patient in our work. Just go and play the way we can. We want to play good football. That's why we are here.

"That's why we have worked on the last four to five weeks with the style we play. We've got a certain style and we have to bring it."

Meanwhile, latest signings Ellis Taylor is expected to be involved in their season opening game.

The left-sided midfielder signed for the club on a season long loan deal from Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Reagan Ogle has left the club to complete a permanent move to National League side Scunthorpe United. The Australian defender moves to the Irons on a free transfer after spending one season with Pools.
