DARLINGTON fell to defeat in their latest pre-season friendly at Blackwell Meadows losing 2-1 to Middlesbrough Under-23’s.

Striker Jacob Hazel continued his fine goalscoring form over pre-season with a late consolation goal for the Quakers.

However, a young Boro side with a blend of experience ran out winners on the day with Josh Coburn scoring one of their goals with first-team manager Chris Wilder in attendance.

Those that didn’t play in last night’s friendly win over Marseille were available for today’s game against Alun Armstrong’s side.

The Quakers have one more friendly against Guiseley on Tuesday evening before the National League North season gets underway on Saturday 6th August with a home tie against Gloucester City.
