HARTLEPOOL United target Josh McPake looks set to seal a loan move to Queens Park with the Rangers winger opting to stay in Scotland.

Gers gave the green light for McPake to secure a loan move elsewhere after recent signings reduced his first-team chances at the club.

Pools declared their initial interest last month but may well have cooled their intentions after Paul Hartley’s appointment in June. The Scotsman has been quick to act in the transfer market with eight new signings in total.

The 20-year-old has had previous loan spells in England with Harrogate Town, Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers but will be staying north of the border until January at least.

Pools boss said McPake is not a player that he has had internal discussions surrounding. Hartley commented: “That one keeps coming up but it’s not something that we have actually spoke about. He keeps getting linked with us. He’s a good player but that’s as far as it goes.”

Pools bolstered their attacking ranks earlier this week with the addition of Josh Umerah. They agreed an undisclosed fee with National League side Wealdstone after he scored 17 goals last season.
