EVERTON boss Frank Lampard has told both Newcastle United and Tottenham that he has no intention of selling Anthony Gordon this summer.

Newcastle officials inquired about Gordon’s potential availability earlier this month, with Eddie Howe keen to reinforce his midfield and attacking ranks in the remainder of the transfer window.

The Magpies head coach has identified the England Under-21 international as a potentially attractive proposition following a breakthrough season that saw Gordon cement himself as a regular in Everton’s starting side.

Tottenham are also strong admirers of the Liverpool-born attacking midfielder, and the north London club had a bid turned down earlier this summer.

Both clubs remain keen to engineer a deal before the window closes, but having sanctioned the departure of Richarlison last month, Lampard is absolutely adamant he will not be losing another of his club’s leading lights.

Speaking in an interview on Everton’s YouTube channel, Lampard said: “He’s (Gordon) a link to the crowd, he’s a link to the fans, a local boy who gives everything.

“He’s a great talent and he’s going nowhere. He’s our player – that was a hugely important thing for me. He’s the sort of player we want to build to go forward with. I’m delighted he has the number ten, and now I want him to continue to earn it.”

Newcastle are expected to make two more signings this summer, with the club’s hierarchy currently preparing a final offer for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

Leverkusen slapped a €60m price tag on Diaby’s head at the start of the summer, but the Magpies’ recruitment team are confident there is scope for negotiation.

Newcastle also remain hopeful of securing a season-long loan deal for Armando Broja, with Chelsea set to make a decision over the Albania international’s future shortly.

Two Newcastle players have left the club this week, with Jeff Hendrick joining Reading on a season-long loan and Ciaran Clark heading to Sheffield United in a loan move that effectively signals the end of his Magpies career given that he is due to become a free agent next summer.
