HARTLEPOOL United striker Omar Bogle becomes the latest departure after sealing a permanent switch to fellow League Two side Newport County.

The 28-year-old, who only signed a two-and-a-half year deal with Pools back in January, has swapped the Suit Direct Stadium for Rodney Parade as Newport pay an undisclosed fee for his services.

After moving to Pools from Doncaster Rovers, Bogle scored five goals in 20 appearances as they went on to secure League Two safety. He was a regular in the side under Graeme Lee before he was relieved of his duties before the end of the season.

Pools boss Paul Hartley said: "Everyone at Hartlepool United would like to wish Omar all the best. We’d also like to thank him for his service to the club over the last six months."

The departure leaves Pools with a considerable gap to fill in their attacking ranks with Marcus Carver the only out-and-out striker in the squad.

Bogle’s exit comes in the same week defender Timi Odusina left the club to complete a permanent switch to Bradford City.

Speculation continues to mount over the future of defender Neill Byrne who has been linked with a permanent switch to fellow League Two side Tranmere Rovers.
