THE television spotlight has been thrust on Sunderland once against after their Carabao Cup first round tie has been moved.
The Black Cats will face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Wednesday 10th August after being selected for television coverage.
It will be the second game within a fortnight that has been selected for television coverage with their season opening game against Coventry City being played in a lunchtime kick-off on Sunday 31st July at the Stadium of Light.
The game will be the first competitive meeting between the two sides since Sunderland overcame the Owls across two legs in the League One play-off semi finals last season. Alex Neil’s side went on to seal promotion to the Championship beating Wycombe Wanderers in the final.
